RALEIGH, N.C., (August 28, 2012) — The Delta Dental Foundation recently awarded a $5,000 grant to The Community Care Clinic of Rowan County in Salisbury for supplies needed to provide essential dental care to patients visiting the clinic.

The clinic focuses on providing free dental services to low-income, uninsured residents within the county.

According to a recent 2012 Health and Human Services Needs Assessment Survey, Rowan County residents say dental care is one of the most needed types of service in the area. In addition, 74.1 percent of those surveyed, indicated they needed help with dental care.

“The statistics from this recent survey prove there is a great need for dental care throughout our state” said Curt Ladig, president and CEO of Delta Dental of North Carolina. “By supporting clinics such as The Community Care Clinic, we can work together to improve these statistics and the dental health of underserved individuals in many of our local communities.”

“We cannot be happier to partner with the Delta Dental Foundation,” said Krista Woolly, executive director of The Community Care Clinic. “Our mission to provide quality medical, dental and pharmacy services to qualified Rowan County residents has not changed over the years, but our volume certainly has grown. With Delta Dental providing funding for these dental supplies, we will be able to reach more people.”

In addition to its support of the clinic, the Delta Dental Foundation continues to support other programs and organizations that address the oral health needs of adults and children across North Carolina. The foundation is currently accepting applications for its Smiles for Kids program which focuses specifically on the oral health needs of underserved children within the state.
